Update, and the British Mathematical Olympiad - Round 1

Finally, an update post!

Firstly, to those of you starting out in the maths olympiad: if the past few posts have been quite difficult for you, we're sorry! But don't worry - by mid-December we'll finally have some time to churn out some videos for all levels.

Secondly, a VERY BIG GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE TAKING THE FIRST ROUND OF THE BRITISH MATHEMATICAL OLYMPIAD (BMO1)!! What is this BMO1 thing I speak of?

The NZ Maths Olympiad Committee works with the British Maths Olympiad Committee each year as part of the selection process for the NZ maths olympiad team. For the 24+ students selected for the January residential camp this year, this is one of their first assessments which will count towards their selection for the maths olympiad training squad. It's a bit of a big deal for most people.

If you're taking the BMO this year, you should hopefully know this site by now: http://www.bmoc.maths.org/. If you are new to this, check out the link! It's basically like the NZMOC site, but 12 hours behind and almost on the other side of the world. And it's British.

This site has decades of past problems to practice with, and for a limited time, there are video solutions to last year's BMO1 to help you prepare. (This link will break in the next few weeks)

ALSO, PLEASE REMEMBER THAT COMPETITORS ARE ON EMBARGO UNTIL 9 PM, SATURDAY 29 NOVEMBER, 2014, NZT!! This means you cannot discuss the problems online or by any medium (even by air) until this time.

Until next time!
